Approx. 7 Km away from the Prayagraj city centre, the Triveni Sangam is the place of thripple auspiciousness. The Triveni Sangam is a confluence of three holy rivers that are Ganga, Yamuna, and invisible Saraswati. As per Hindu mythology, a bath here said to wash away all sins and free one from the cycle of rebirth.

The sight of the Ganges’ muddy and pale yellow water merging with the green water of the Yamuna is a spectacular sight for tourists. The confluence of the rivers marks the end of the course for the River Yamuna, and it is now the River Ganges. The Ganges is only 4 feet deep at the nexus, whereas the Yamuna is around 40 feet deep.

The third river, Saraswati, is a mythical river that is inaccessible to visitors. The river is said to flow beneath the earth and meet the other two at their base. The confluence of these rivers is a holy place where thousands of people from all over the world come to pray and worship.

The site of Triveni Sangam can not be reached by foot. Devotees need to take a boat to reach the confluence point.

It is believed that the lord Parsurama purified his body here after the killing of Chatriyas. Therefore, it’s easy to get that this river is as pure as the holy Ganga is.
