The event occurs in four sacred cities of India: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik, and Ujjain. The Kumbh Mela rotates every 12 years among these cities, with Nashik hosting it alongside Ujjain in the same year. The history of Kumbh Mela dates back to the legendary battle between gods and demons for the nectar of immortality (Amrit).
