Bade Hanuman Mandir is a well-known religious site located approx. 500 metres north of Prayagraj Fort. Also, the temple is very close to Triveni Sangam. The temple, also known as Lete Hanuman Mandir. The temple is an underground pit that houses a massive image of Lord Hanuman lying down. This is the world’s only Lord Hanuman temple with the idol in a reclining position.
Another fascinating fact about Bade Hanuman Mandir in Prayagraj is that one side of Lord Hanuman’s statue is half immersed in Ganges water. During the monsoon season, when the water level rises, it is believed that the river’s water reaches the deity’s feet.
During the time of the monsoon, a large number of devotees visit this temple. There is a sanctum inside the temple that houses the idol of Lord Hanuman. Also, a large number of devotees worship at the temple every Tuesday & other sacred dates.
