With the State Government putting in efforts to ensure that the Kumbh Mela to be held in Haridwar during 2021 is grander than the Prayagraj Kumbh held earlier this year, the officials are looking at different aspects to ensure proper management. Security being one of the major concerns, the Kumbh Mela administration is considering options for security from unauthorised devices like drones being flown without permission. For this, the Kumbh Mela officer Deepak Rawat and other officials viewed the demonstration of an anti-drone system at a college stadium here on Wednesday.
This system is also capable of deactivating a drone within a certain range.
Rawat said that ensuring security is also vital along with ensuring proper crowd management during the Kumbh Mela.
It is being estimated that about eight crore people would visit Haridwar during the 2021 Kumbh Mela.
Though flying drones without proper permission and clearance is illegal, some mischevious and anti-social elements could try to operate drones in an illegal manner.
Considering this, the Kumbh Mela administration viewed a demonstration by officials of a US based company here on Wednesday.
The officials demonstrated the anti-drone system which can spot a drone from a distance of five kilometres. The system can also deactivate a drone within one kilometre range.
The Kumbh Mela officer further informed that presently they had only viewed a demonstration by one company.
Further steps will be taken in this matter after discussions are held at the administration level, he added.
