Kumbh Mela Special Trains News Updates : As per media reports, The Indian Railways is set to run 992 special trains during the Next Kumbh Mela to accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims. According to officials, the Ministry of Railways has allocated Rs 933 crore to develop essential infrastructure and facilities for passengers attending the Kumbh Mela. Additionally, the Prayagraj division and nearby areas are witnessing the fast-paced doubling of railway tracks, a project worth Rs 3,700 crore, aimed at ensuring the smooth movement of trains during the grand event.
Doubling of Railway Tracks for Kumbh Mela 2025
To cater to the growing number of visitors expected at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2025, the Ministry has prioritized the doubling of railway tracks in and around the Prayagraj division. This project, with a budget of Rs 3,700 crore, is progressing rapidly and will help streamline the flow of the Kumbh Mela special trains. This effort is part of a larger initiative to enhance passenger convenience and efficiency during the Next Kumbh Mela.
Railway Ministry Reviews Preparations for Kumbh Mela
In preparation for the massive turnout at the Next Kumbh Mela, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Ministers of State Ravneet Singh Bittu and V Somanna, held a strategic review meeting. With an anticipated attendance of 30 to 50 crore pilgrims, the ministry is taking proactive steps to manage the rush. To this end, over 6,580 regular trains will be in operation, with the addition of 992 special trains—an increase of 42 percent based on past experiences of handling large crowds at the Kumbh Mela.
Special Trains Ahead of the Kumbh Mela
In the lead-up to the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2025, the Northeast Frontier Railway is set to run 26 special trains over the next two months. These 13 pairs of trains will operate between October 1 and November 30, easing the rush during festive occasions like Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja, while also serving as a precursor to the transport arrangements for the Kumbh Mela.
The combination of special and regular trains, alongside enhanced infrastructure, promises a smoother and more organized travel experience for the millions of pilgrims heading to Prayagraj for the sacred event. With Kumbh Mela accommodation and logistics being prioritized, attendees can look forward to a seamless journey to this spiritual gathering.
